Our Daytime Book Club usually meets on the last Wednesday of each month. At our next meeting, on Wednesday, January 31st at 11:30 am, we'll meet to discuss America's First Daughter by Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie. As Thomas Jefferson's eldest daughter, Patsy becomes his constant companion after her mother's death, and travels with him when Jefferson becomes America's minister to France. While there, she learns about her father's troubling relationship with Sally Hemmings, and falls in love with diplomat and abolitionist William Short. Torn between love, principles, and loyalty to family, Patsy must decide what she is willing to sacrifice.
